Alternative providers
Health and wellbeing hubs are available to provide prompt access to assessment and local evidence-based mental health services for health and social care professionals. These hubs offer confidential and no-cost support, including clinical assessment and referrals to services like counseling or therapy, separate from their employing organisation. The services are open to all NHS workers, and referrals can be made either by the individual themselves or with their colleague's consent.

All 40 staff mental health and wellbeing hubs are now live. You can also see the current staff wellbeing offers or talking therapies available, also everyone including health and social care staff can access help from their GP.
A small proportion of staff may be referred onto NHS practitioner health by their local hub as clinically indicated. This is an enhanced mental health service, which has been commissioned nationally, to support staff whose needs cannot be met locally. Doctors, dentists and senior leaders also have the option to self-refer to this service, please see the NHS practitioner health website for details.
A free helpline is available to all NHS staff in England. Trained professionals can give you advice on coaching, bereavement care, mental health and financial help. Support via text is also available to doctors any time of day.
