Our history and contribution to primary care
About us
At General Practice Solutions (GPS) we know how challenging the running of a primary care organisation (PCO) can be and we are passionate about supporting our NHS colleagues.
General Practice Solutions (GPS) was established in February 2022 by our Managing Director, Shaun Chadwick, with a compelling vision: to deliver affordable, comprehensive, and specialised support services to primary care organisations. Drawing upon over 14 years of experience in the healthcare sector, Shaun identified a critical gap—a need for a dedicated provider offering tailored, end-to-end solutions for primary care. His extensive background illuminated the immense pressures facing smaller, standalone practices, which often struggle with limited resources, financial uncertainty, regulatory complexities, and operational inefficiencies.
Shaun recognised that existing government-led initiatives, such as GP federations, buying groups, and health neighbourhoods, frequently lacked the flexibility and depth required to address these challenges effectively. He saw an opportunity to create a private enterprise that would champion the needs of the sector by providing bespoke services that empower primary care organisations to achieve sustainable success. With this insight, Shaun founded GPS to fill this vital gap, combining his deep understanding of the sector's intricacies with a commitment to innovation and excellence.
Understanding the reluctance of many primary care organisations to engage in long-term contracts, given their often-variable income and the uncertainty that accompanies new or enforced contract negotiations, Shaun established GPS as a contract-free provider. This model ensures that our clients remain with us by choice, driven by the proven quality, reliability, and value of our services. Our approach fosters trust and flexibility, offering primary care providers the support they need without the constraints of binding agreements.
GPS offers an extensive range of services designed to directly address the core needs of primary care organisations. Our practice management solutions are aimed at streamlining administrative processes, optimising workflows, and implementing efficient systems that reduce overheads while enhancing patient care delivery. In the area of financial planning, we provide expert guidance on budgeting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting, helping organisations navigate the complexities of fluctuating revenues and secure their financial stability.
To address workforce challenges, GPS offers comprehensive human resources (HR) support and recruitment solutions that assist organisations in attracting, retaining, and managing skilled professionals. We specialise in the strategic placement of ARRS (Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme) staff across thousands of primary care providers, ensuring access to the additional workforce necessary to meet patient demands and improve service quality.
Our tailored services extend across the full spectrum of primary care organisations. For GP Federations, we provide strategic guidance in contract negotiation, service development, and quality enhancement, enabling them to expand their service offerings and deliver superior patient outcomes. For Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), we offer bespoke support in governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement to enhance care coordination and align with broader health system objectives. For Primary Care Networks (PCNs), we facilitate improved communication, establish shared goals, and foster collaboration, driving the delivery of integrated, patient-centred care.
For private organisations in the healthcare sector, GPS provides specialised consultancy in business development, marketing, and regulatory compliance, ensuring they are well-positioned to navigate the complexities of the healthcare environment, achieve strategic growth, and maintain compliance with evolving regulations.
Furthermore, GPS offers interim support to primary care organisations, maintaining continuity and stability during periods of transition, leadership changes, or unforeseen challenges. This ensures our clients can continue to deliver high-quality patient care, regardless of external circumstances.
Since our inception, GPS has experienced rapid growth, becoming the trusted partner of choice for numerous primary care organisations across the country. Our success is driven by our ability to anticipate and respond proactively to the evolving landscape of primary care. We continually refine our service offerings to meet new challenges, from regulatory changes to shifting funding models, ensuring that our clients remain well-positioned to succeed.
